How Did I Not Know This?

A study of nearly 3,000 middle-aged men found that men who donated blood had 88% less risk of acute myocardial infarction (heart attack) [1][2] compared to men who didn’t donate.  (It’s also a significant positive for many women as well.)

I’m not sure how I came across this piece of information last week, but when I did, I honestly couldn’t believe I didn’t already know it.

I’ve been meaning to go give blood for quite some time, so I guess now is the time.  No more dragging my feet.

According to the Red Cross, only 3% of the U.S. population gives blood, and during the summer months, there are significant blood shortages.  This is because blood drives are often held in schools and they are obviously not in session in the summer months.

Long story short, go donate.  For your health and for others!
